Tomb Raider (古墓丽影) is Core Design's 1996 original. What is free here is the demo level the studio released that November — City of Vilcabamba, part one — on the OpenLara engine.
Tomb Raider (古墓丽影) is Core Design's 1996 action-adventure, and the game that introduced Lara Croft.
It is less a shooter than a game about reading a room. Lara runs, jumps, grabs ledges and swims through tombs built as real three-dimensional spaces, and most of the difficulty is working out which surface she can reach from where — with the camera behind her, which in 1996 was a new way to look at a game world.
The archive runs it through OpenLara, an open-source re-implementation of the original engine, reading the data from the copy you own. The files are read in this browser and never leave the device.
